5 Outside The Holiday Gift Box Ideas

It's that time of year again when we're all straining to think of unique gift ideas. We want to be known for giving gifts that are memorable and creative. Yet too often we run out of time and energy during this hectic season. Before you go out and buy that gift card take a look at our list of 5 unique gift ideas.

Vintage or Antique Holiday Decorations

The holidays often bring you back to your childhood and wonderful holiday memories.  If you enjoy going antique shopping or even thrift store hunting you're likely to come up with Christmas decorations that spark memories of those good times. If you know someone with a love of nostalgia, Vintage holiday tablecloths, candy dishes, ornaments and decorations are sure to put a smile on their face.

Gift "Certificates"

No, not gift cards or typical gift certificates from retailers but custom certificates made by you. They could be as simple as - a foot massage you'll provide to a tired spouse or as grand as a weekend getaway that you'll pay for and plan. Here's a chance to really get creative. Most document software now comes with a certificate template of some sort so you can even print your own that look quite professional. Have fun with it and remember, the more personalized the better!

Souvenirs

Everyone knows we PoshGirls travel a lot. While traveling there are a couple of things we always look for - first thing is a destination magnet for our ever-expanding refrigerator magnet collection. The other is a Christmas ornament. We love adding them to the tree every year. They remind us of our visit, and add to the diversity of our holiday ornaments. While we're looking, we sometimes pick up some as gifts to pass along to friends and family. They love getting something from a far away place and knowing that we carried it back home with them on our minds.

Homemade Goodies

Sharing homemade cookies and candies is something everyone looks forward to receiving. Don't stop there - you can also give homemade mixes like brownies, cookies or muffins in a pretty jar with the recipe included so they can whip up a treat when they need one. Spice mixes, infused olive oils and vinegars, giant olives stuffed with cheese, garlic, almonds or whatever, pickles, jellies, jam and unique popcorn blends all make wonderful holiday gifts. If you make wine, beer, cheese or bread - what a wonderful gift to share with those who can appreciate your handicrafts. If you're staying out of the kitchen, homemade potpourri or sachets make excellent gifts as well.

Giving To Others In Need

Donating to charitable causes in your friend's name provides an alternative for those folks who have everything. Planting a tree, caring for creatures great and small, feeding the hungry - there are just so many ways to help around the world. If your friend has a particular cause they support, this is a great time to add just a little more in their honor. They will really appreciate it. If you want to support one that we PoshGirls love, check out Heifer International. You can even sign someone up as a gift or join our Team Heifer right here!
